Victorian Quality Council

The Victorian Quality Council is responsible for fostering better quality health services in Victoria by working with stakeholders to develop useful tools and strategies to improve health service safety and quality.

The VQC commenced its third term in July 2008 with a revised terms of reference and membership. The new Council's first task will be the development of a 2008-2012 strategic plan. For further information visit the About Council section of this website.

What’s New

New education package - Falls Prevention
On 8 September the VQC launched in Sydney the new exciting education package on Falls prevention.

Pressure Ulcer Basics for residential aged care workers
This online education tool has been designed for the residential aged care setting and is aimed specially at Certificate III and IV level residential aged care workers. The package provides an understanding of the cause and effects of pressure areas and more.

Appointment of the third term of the Victorian Quality Council
The Honourable Daniel Andrews, Minister for Health appointed the third term of the Victorian Quality Council on 30 June 2008. As recommended in the VQC evaluation, membership has widened to include representatives from across the health sector. The third term of Council will be chaired by Dr Sherene Devanesen, Chief Executive Officer, Peninsula Health.

Using data for quality improvement
The VQC’s ‘A guide to using data for health care quality improvement’ is a simple practical resource to support all members of the health care team understand the role of data in quality improvement.

VQC Evaluation
The Department of Human Services commissioned an evaluation of the Victorian Quality Council in late 2007. The evaluation was conducted by the Nous Group and the final report is now available for download.
