Disability Action Plan
The Department of Health (the department) has a strong commitment to human rights, diversity and the principles of fair treatment and inclusion. We communicate this commitment through our values, which are aligned to our strategic directions and the Victorian Public Service codes of conduct and employment principles.
Working Together – Our Disability Action Plan formally communicates our commitment toward the inclusion and engagement of people with a disability in our workplace and in the Victorian community.
Working Together outlines a wide range of actions that the Department will undertake over the next three years to optimise participation and positive outcomes for people with a disability. The actions identified in Working Together apply to the department workforce and workplaces only, and do not extend to sector agencies.
Consistent with the approach across the Victorian Public Service (VPS), the four priorities of this plan are:
- reducing barriers to persons with disability accessing goods, services and facilities
- reducing barriers to persons with disability obtaining and maintaining employment
- promoting inclusion and participation in the community of persons with disability
- achieving tangible changes in attitudes and practices which discriminate against people with disability.
