The Department of Health is responsible for the regulation of private hospitals and day procedure centres under the Health Services Act 1988 and the Health Services (Private Hospitals and Day Procedure Centres) Regulations 2002. This legislation mandates the minimum requirements for the quality and safety of care delivered to patients in private hospitals and day procedure centres.
