Overview

The prevention and management of pressure ulcers (PU) is an internationally recognised issue in healthcare. The VQC has developed a number of strategies to improve patient outcomes in this area by conducting state-wide PU point prevalence surveys, developing information sheets for patients, and developing an education package.

Online course for clinicians

This Pressure Ulcer Basics course has been developed for use by all clinical staff. It is hoped that the knowledge gained will assist staff in the provision of safe, quality care.

Online course for residential aged care workers

Following evaluation of the PUBs package, the VQC approved the development of a second online education package: Pressure Ulcer Basics for residential aged care workers. This package has been developed for use by Certificate III and IV workers in residential aged care settings.
