Legislation affecting the Pest Control industry in Victoria
The Department of Human Services licenses Pest Control Operators under Part V Division 2A of the Health Act 1958 and the Health (Pest Control) Regulations 2002 (available on the Victorian Legislation and Parliamentary Documents website). Licensing of the pest control industry is designed to protect Pest Control Operators, consumers, members of the public, and the environment from the harmful effects of pesticides.

The Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (available on the Victorian Legislation and Parliamentary Documents website) and the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2007 (available on the Victorian Legislation and Parliamentary Documents website) are administered by the Victorian WorkCover Authority and ensure that employers protect the health and safety of employees using hazardous substances.
The Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals (Control of Use) Act 1992 (available on the Victorian Legislation and Parliamentary Documents website) and Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals (Control of Use) Regulations 2007 (available on the Victorian Legislation and Parliamentary Documents website) are administered by the Department of Primary Industries and ensure that the environment, agricultural produce and livestock are protected, that pesticides are registered with the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority, and that pesticides are applied according to label directions. The Department of Primary Industries also license businesses and individuals who undertake weed control, vermin control and apply certain pesticides in agricultural and horticultural situations
