Overview
The perinatal data provided to the Consultative Council on Obstetric and Paediatric Mortality and Morbidity (CCOPMM) by all Victorian health services will change on 1 January 2009.
New Birth Report Form
From 1 January 2009 a new Birth Report Form will be used to collect data on obstetric conditions, procedures and outcomes, neonatal morbidity and congenital anomalies relating to every birth in Victoria after 20 weeks gestation, or where gestation is unknown, where the birth weight is at least 400gm.
The information is strictly confidential. The collection is used by CCOPMM to undertake research on perinatal and maternal health. Only coded information, which will not identify the mother, her baby, the practitioner or the hospital, is used to compile reports released to the public.

Information sessions covering the new Birth Report Form and the electronic transfer of data were held during September and October 2008 with midwives, health information managers, IT personnel and hospital administrators.
The next information session is scheduled for 19 November 2008. In addition, rural and regional sessions will be arranged. Further information on session times and dates can be obtained by contacting Diana Stubbs, Research and Liaison Midwife or by checking this page.
