Education opportunities
The Public Hospital Patient Charter sets out the principles of patients’ rights and responsibilities when attending a public hospital. However, patients and also hospital staff should also be aware of these principles so they can be communicated effectively and disseminated across a wide range of areas both within and external to the hospital.
For this to occur a strategic approach is required by the hospital. A good way of communicating the Charter principles is through education sessions and other relevant opportunities.
A wide range of information regarding educating both patients and hospital staff can be accessed through the following:
- Hospital examples
- Community examples
- State examples

Other materials and links are available in the Resources section of this site.
We also encourage you to let us know about any new and innovative examples implemented by hospitals and community organisations. You can do this via email at patientcharter@dhs.vic.gov.au.
