Victoria's Palliative Care Program

Surveys: employee and volunteer survey findings

In 2007, the Department of Human Services undertook two surveys of people working in specialist palliative care services in Victoria.

In the first survey, the paid employees of specialist palliative care services were asked to complete a workforce survey, with the aim of getting a better understanding of the attitudes and experiences of people working in the palliative care sector.

A second survey was undertaken of volunteers who work in the palliative care sector. The survey was targeted at the volunteers who have direct contact with clients of palliative care services, and was designed to explore the activities undertaken by volunteers and the relationship between these activities and those of the paid workforce.

The findings of the employee and volunteer surveys are contained in the following two reports.
