School canteens and Fruit + Veg

School canteens can help children make healthier food choices. By offering children the opportunity to select healthy food that features fruit and vegetables, canteens can help schools create an environment where healthy eating messages are reinforced.

Fruit + Veg information for school canteens

This booklet offers lots of ideas for delicious, healthy fruit and vegetable snack and lunch items as well as ways of presenting and preparing vegetables and fruit that are appealing to children. Ways of introducing new menu items, canteen competitions and other ways of promoting vegetables and fruit special menus during Fruit + Veg Week are also included.
