Nursing In Victoria

Exploring the workforce experience of intensive care nurses

In 2010, focus groups and interviews were conducted with current and former intensive care nurses from metropolitan and regional Victoria. Participants reflected on factors affecting recruitment, retention and attrition, and suggested strategies for improvement.

By presenting the open and honest opinions of the nurses interviewed, the report provides valuable information that may assist in enhancing intensive care nursing recruitment and retention and could be used as a tool to explore local issues and perceptions in the workplace.

Please note that by presenting the views of the participating nurses in this manner, the report does not necessarily reflect the views of the department.
