VNPP publication grants support publication of papers and presentations that disseminate knowledge about nurse practitioner role implementation and sustainability. This will enable other health services to build on the work and knowledge of those organisations that have been funded by the VNPP.
A VNPP Publications Grants round was offered in 2008 and the proved to be very popular, attracting a considerable number of applications.
In the 2008 round, ten grants were awarded to metropolitan and rural nurses for papers on a range of topics including:
• Building organisational knowledge and infrastructure to support NP implementation
• Maintaining an adaptive model for NPs across an organisation
• A model of leadership for NPs
• Organisational cultural aspects of NP role development
• A model for skill development and progression of competence, and
• Developing clinical internship models.
Grant recipients are required to present at a conference or submit for publication in a peer reviewed journal within 18 months.
Further VNPP publication grants will be offered in 2009-10.
The focus of the grants will again be on publications that add to the knowledge base related to nurse practitioner sustainability and integration of the role.
