Postgraduate Nurse Scholarships

Semester 1 2010 Postgraduate Nurse Scholarship

Semester 1 2010 Postgraduate Nurse Scholarships
Following a review of the Postgraduate Nurse Scholarship Program in 2009, a revised administration process has commenced.   The overall allocation of scholarship funding remains unchanged however the main difference is that applications for scholarships are managed by health services.

From Semester 1 2010, public health services will receive a scholarship quota that will allow them to internally prioritise areas of practice for scholarships based on local service and workforce development needs.

This quota excludes:

  • Nurse Practitioner scholarships

o A Victorian Nurse Practitioner Project (VNPP) Scholarship round will open in late October 2009 for nurses undertaking courses in 2010 leading to endorsement as a nurse practitioner.  Go to the Nurse Practitioner scholarship page

  • Mental Health & Maternal and Child Health scholarships

o This website will be updated with more information about Mental Health Postgraduate Nurse Scholarships shortly.

Scholarship distribution

For Semester 1, 2010:

  • 40% of the general scholarship pool has been allocated to rural health services, with each DHS rural region receiving an equal share
  • The scholarship quota for metropolitan health services is based on nursing FTE
  • Some additional scholarships in targeted practice areas such as NICU and critical care have been allocated based on the department’s system-wide service and workforce priorities.

Health Services

Health services will receive notice of their scholarship quota in October 2009.

Students:

Applications for scholarships are now made directly to your employer.

In departmental rural regions, Directors of Nursing will collectively implement a regional scholarship process.
