The Division 2 Registered Nurse Strategy aims to increase the capacity and capability of Division 2 registered nurses to assist in addressing workforce shortages and demand for services across Victoria’s public health care system.
The strategy supports current Department of Human Services’ priorities to maintain and expand services in targeted areas such as emergency departments, renal and maternity services and looks to the future where there will be an increasing demand on the pool of available people entering the workforce each year.
The Department has recently revised the strategy to ensure its continued alignment with the contemporary needs of nurses, health services and Government priorities.
The Division 2 Registered Nurse Strategy focuses on 4 key and inter-related areas of activity:
1. Reforming legislation, regulation and policy
2. Securing supply and predicting demand
3. Supporting education, training and professional development
4. Promoting workforce planning, innovation and sustainable roles
