A nursing qualification enables you to pursue a career within a wide range of employment settings in both metropolitan Melbourne and rural Victoria. Full, part time and casual nursing employment opportunities are available across all sectors, including clinical settings, health promotion, education, policy development, research, management and public health.
Nursing vacancies appear in the print media, as well as the Victorian Health Employment website, which advertises employment opportunities across a range of specialties.
The Department of Human services has a policy requiring screening of people who will work with specified clients or patients. To minimise the risk to clients and patients, people employed in direct client or patient contact or in direct management of these services, are subject to rigorous assessment of their suitability, including police checks. ('Contact' means actual unsupervised contact or the potential for actual unsupervised contact).
