WorkshopThe department and VPACT hosted a workshop, titled "Future directions for health technology uptake, diffusion and disinvestment in Victorian public health services", on Wednesday 21 March 2007. The purpose of the workshop was to provide a forum to consider the range of issues and challenges associated with the department’s support of new and emerging technology/clinical practice and disinvestment of health technology that offers little or no health gain. Dr Norman Swan, producer and presenter of ABC Radio’s Health Report, facilitated the Workshop. The outcome of the workshop was that a statewide strategy should be developed that is based on a guiding set of principles that govern the introduction, diffusion and disinvestment of health technology and clinical practice in Victoria’s public health sector. The department is considering how it might progress this. The report of the workshop; discussion paper and presentations are available for download.
