Research dissemination and collaborationThe dissemination of research findings, and particularly the ways in which research translates into practice, is an important driver of evidence based practice in mental health service delivery. PARC (Primary Mental Health Care Australian Resource Centre) PARC provides knowledge management, research, evaluation and information services to support Australian Primary Mental Health Care. PARC provides knowledge management, research and information services to support Australian primary mental health care. The website includes publications, information guides and links to support primary mental health care. It also includes a data base of Mental Health Activities of the Divisions of General Practice. ROAR (Roadmap of Australian Research) ROAR describes itself as access point to a compilation of Australian Primary Health Care research and researcher information. It aims to raise awareness of current and recently completed primary health care research, reduce duplication of research effort, facilitate collaborative research partnerships and promote research expertise. Its website includes a list and brief description of currently funded primary care research projects in its eLibrary, and an events diary. Auseinet (The Australian Network for Promotion, Prevention and Early Intervention for Mental Health) Auseinet works with governments and organisations across many sectors to support change in Australia's mental health policy and practice. They develop, collect and disseminate information on promotion of mental health, prevention of mental disorder, early Intervention in mental illness and suicide prevention. They also establish and maintain networks of people and organisations committed to this approach. The Auseinet website has a newsletter which includes content relating to a variety of aspects of mental health promotion, prevention, early intervention and suicide prevention across the lifespan. A regular section for state and territory based projects is planned. The website also has links to the Auseinet on line peer reviewed open access journal. beyondblue is a national, independent, not-for-profit organisation working to address issues associated with depression, anxiety and related substance misuse disorders in Australia. beyondblue Victorian Centre of Excellence in Depression and Related Disorders (External link) The website includes a research notice board which describes current Australian research projects related to depression and anxiety. The site contains information on the beyondblue Victorian Centre of Excellence in Depression and Related Disorders, a major depression and related disorders research and evaluation program that brings together expertise from the primary care, general medical and specialist mental health systems to facilitate pathways to care in Victoria. It also includes links to other websites (including PARC etc). Embrace the future website (Mental Health Foundation) Embrace the future is an Australian program being developed in collaboration with young people up to the age of 24 to educate young people in strategies in skills which promote and sustain resiliency and positive mental health. Australasian Society for Psychiatric Research (ASPR) The Australasian Society for Psychiatric Research (ASPR) is a national peak body for psychiatric and mental health research in Australia and New Zealand. It includes researchers from a range of disciplines (including psychiatrists, psychologists, statisticians, epidemiologists, neuroscientists, geneticists, social scientists, mental health nurses, health economists) and provides them with an opportunity to come together to report on their most recent work, to stay abreast of developments in their own and related fields, to strengthen old collaborations and to develop new ones. The Mental Health Services Conference (The MHS) TheMHS Conference is an international mental health educational forum, annually attracting over 1000 mental health clinicians, managers, consumers, carers, researchers, educators and policy makers. JournalPsych-e Bulletin - The RANZCP's electronic newsletter This contains news stories related to College Fellows and also includes an announcements section which is mainly used to publicise conferences. Australasian Psychiatry is the bi-national communiqué of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. It contains original articles, reports and brief papers covering such areas as research and research methods, as well as issues that may assist psychiatrists in their day-to-day work. The main focus of contributions is on the art of psychiatry and its maintenance of excellence in practice. International Journal of Mental Health Nursing International Journal of Mental Health Nursing is a fully refereed journal examining current trends and developments in mental health practice and research. The Journal provides a lively forum for the exchange of ideas on all issues relevant to mental health nursing, including directions in education and training, management approaches, policy, ethical questions, theoretical inquiry and clinical concerns. The Australian e-Journal for the Advancement of Mental Health The promotion of mental health and prevention of mental illness is a strategic and policy priority in Australia and is reflected in similar directions internationally. AeJAMH is a forum for advancing promotion, prevention and early intervention (PPEI) approaches to mental health. It is a peer reviewed, online, open access journal. Contributions are invited from clinicians, practitioners, consumers, carers, researchers, academics and commentators across the broad range of disciplines that are involved in PPEI approaches to mental health. |
