Please let us know if a link doesn't work - thank you! Outcome measuresIn order to honour authorship and copyright arrangements we have chosen to provide hyperlinks directly to the authors’ websites where these exist: The HoNOS and the HoNOS 65+ version for older persons were developed by The Royal British College of Psychiatry. Please note that an updated, tabulated version of the HoNOS 65+ Glossary was produced by the British Royal College of Psychiatry in April 2002. This is the version currently posted on their website. However, in keeping with the NOCC protocol, Victorian health services should use the older version of the HoNOS 65+ Glossary (PDF file 58KB) posted on this website for the sake of national uniformity and comparability of data. Because of different groupings and descriptors, the tabulated version is seen as an inherently different instrument. Services will be advised formally of any refinements or revisions to the protocol if and when these occur. The HoNOSCA version for children and adolescents was developed by the University of Liverpool and can be found on the same website. The BASIS-32® was developed by McLean Hospital in Massachusetts, USA. This measure is not in the public domain. Copyright rests with McLean Hospital. DHS has an arrangement in place with McLean Hospital governing the use of the BASIS-32® in Victoria. Dr Robert Goodman at Maudsley Hospital, London, developed the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire. Please note that the SDQ has been amended for use in Australia and that Victorian clinicians should utilise the version available at their service. Goodman who owns the copyright for the SDQ has also developed translated SDQ. These translations are inconsistent with the version mandated by NOCC. In particular, the question that seeks an overall opinion, and the perception of other informants (teachers and or parents) opinions on the young person's behaviour are the major difference e.g. PC1 questions 36, 37 and 38. The differences are significant with the Parent SDQ covering 4-16yrs where NOCC versions cover 4-10 and 11 -17yrs. All the above measures, as well as the other measures are being used in clinical practice in Victoria (i.e. the LSP-16, Focus of Care, RUG-ADL, CGAS and FIHS) are also brought together in the ‘NOCC document posted below Please note that DHS cannot accept any responsibility for the information posted on external sites. Outcome measurement sitesA range of resources in relation to the National Mental Health Strategy and initiatives around Outcome Measurement implementation and Casemix can be found on the website of the Commonwealth Department of Health & Ageing. The Australian Mental Health Outcomes and Classification Network (AMHOCN) is a national resource to support the States and Territories in the area of outcome measurement. AMHOCN has posted a number of newsletters about its activities on its website and also hosts an Internet forum where issues in relation to the NOCC protocol can be discussed with experts. Clinicians also have access to the decision support tool which contains clinical reference material generated by AMHOCN from data submitted by each jurisdiction and can be found at http://wdst.mhnocc.org/. The website of the Western Australian Mental Health Information Development Plan provides an overview of OM implementation in that state. The website of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners contains information about the Better Outcomes in Mental Health Care project - a Commonwealth-funded initiative which aims to "support general practitioners in improving the quality of care provided through general practice to Australians with a mental illness by providing mental health education and training for general practitioners and more support for them from allied health professionals and psychiatrists". The Ohio Mental Health Consumer Outcomes System hosts an informative website designed for consumers served by Ohio's public mental health system. A linked site focuses primarily upon outcome measures and consumer recovery. The UK Clearing House on Health Outcomes provides a portal to a range of predominantly British sites with a focus on outcome measurement. The British youthinmind website is based around the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire and enables young people, parents and teachers to complete the SDQ online and to print off a plain English or technical report based on their ratings.
