How Do I Go About Using Public Mental Health Services?

If you need psychiatric help, you can phone or visit your nearest community mental health centre. A listing of centres can be found in the Telecom White Pages under 'Human Services, Mental Health Services'.

If you need support in going to the centre, you might ask your family, carer or friend to assist. Sometimes it can help to talk with other people who have used public mental health services. For more information you can ring the Victorian Mental Illness Awareness Council (see important contacts listed at the end of this guide.
