Medical Equipment Replacement Program
Funding of $35 million for the Medical Equipment Replacement Program has been allocated and provided for 2011-12 from the May 2011 State Budget to enable health services to replace critical high cost acute medical equipment items across the public health system, to reduce risk to patients, staff, and to service availability for medical equipment for acute services for metropolitan and rural health services and statewide Public Health equipment.
Please note: This website is under construction and will include the Medical Equipment Asset Management Framework (MEAMF) and MEAMF tools, and are expected to be available on this site toward the end of the first quarter of 2012.
Targeted Equipment Program
Prioritised funding submissions for replacement medical equipment items for acute services and non-acute services within a defined scope were invited from health services under the 2011-12 Targeted Equipment Program. It was requested items put forward should be rated as having a combined critical risk level of 1 or 2 according to the Medical Equipment Asset Management Framework – risk rating system. For higher cost replacement items (greater or equal to $600,000) there was an additional requirement to complete a business case template in accordance with the requirements of the Medical equipment asset management framework – Medical equipment business case package.
Final allocation of the 2011-12 Targeted Equipment Program budget took into account health service’s priorities along with the department’s statewide priorities in determining final allocation of the program.
Please note: Information related the Targeted Equipment Program is under construction.
Medical Equipment Asset Management Framework
The Medical Equipment Asset Management Framework (MEAMF) is to support improved medical equipment asset management in Victoria and, in particular, to help individual health services meet their risk responsibilities.
The MEAMF provides guidance and the MEAMF tools provides information to help Victorian public health services to manage their medical equipment assets using a consistent approach, and to meet Victorian Government requirements.
Using the MEAMF principles and practices will assist health services to develop their own medical equipment asset management plans.
The MEAMF offers health services’ guidance in understanding government requirements in asset management of medical equipment and was developed in partnership between the department and Victorian health services.
Please note: Information related the framework is under construction.
