About the CouncilMessage from ChairWelcome to the Victorian Health Service Management Innovation Council website. The Council was formed in 2005 and since then we have been cementing the objectives contained within our Strategic Intent and Program Plan and working to progress the anticipated outcomes we envision coming out of these documents. The Council aims to become a catalyst for management innovation across the Victorian public health system by working in partnership with Health Services and Departmental Executives on operational projects with a practical focus. The last three years have been extremely productive for Council with the advancement of projects launched since its inception and the beginning of several exciting new initiatives. In line with Council's intention some of the major projects we have been involved in include: Building Positive Attendance Victoria (BPAV), Better Skills, Best Care, Management Innovation Action Learning Sets and Management Innovation Seeding Grants Program. These projects are just a snapshot of the work Council has been involved in, you can find out more about our work by following the Projects link on this website. The Council is made up of a group of professionals including Board Chairs, Health Service CEO’s, clinician managers and Department of Human Services representatives, who bring a diverse range of expertise and experience to the table and who allow the Council to gain a broad perspective of issues within the Health System. We will introduce you to our members on this website, with a brief biography for each to give you an insight into the range of knowledge and practical skills that our members are able to contribute to Council. The Council is supported by a small Secretariat led by Deborah Sykes and made up of Project Manager Mary Swift and Project Officer Caryn Hamburger. In June 2006, Secretariat business processes and procedures were established. As part of our communication strategy we regularly produce and distribute a newsletter to keep you informed of new projects and update you on developments in current projects as well as in Management Innovation in general. I look forward to working with the Health Sector into the future. If you would like any more information about the Council please contact the Secretariat via the Contact Us link. Dr Brendan Murphy |
