Municipal Public Health PlansMunicipal Public Health Plans (MPHPs) are a requirement of the local government strategic planning process as specified in the Health Act (1958). The plans outline action to prevent or minimize public health dangers, as well as to enable people living in the municipality to achieve maximum health and wellbeing. Each Council’s MPHP is developed and implemented in partnership with the community and other local organisations. Many local governments are using the Environments for Health framework to develop their plans, however application of the framework to local issues and actions means that MPHPs are very diverse on a statewide level. This section contains information regarding current MPHPs in all 79 Councils across Victoria. It highlights the great diversity in the approach to public health planning within Councils, as well as the variation in planning cycles. Where available, links to the online version of each Council’s current MPHP is provided. Where the MPHP is not available online, general information regarding the plan is included.
