Local Government Planning for Health Workshop held at Ministerial Rural & Regional Health ForumAs part of the 10th Ministerial Rural and Regional Health Forum held in Traralgon on September 8th 2006, the Local Government Partnership team facilitated the delivery of the Local Government Planning for Health workshop. Only the second time in the history of the Ministerial Rural Health Forums that local government has been a specific focus, the workshop was an important opportunity for information sharing, discussion and debate around the health promotion role of this important sector. In the final session of the program, Mick Gordon (PDF Management) acted as game show host, getting workshop participants to roll the dice and navigate the challenges of creating a healthier community on a life size game board created for the workshop. The game was initially developed for the Winter 2006 issue of the VicHealth Letter and proved to be a great resource for stimulating creative thinking and discussion around the many ways local government can contribute to creating a healthier community.
