Planning Healthy Cities Building Community Capital Human, Social, Natural & EconomicPage contents: Program | Keynote speaker | Download ProgramThe forum was held on Friday 7th July 2006 and aimed to bring together urban planners, health planners, social planners, managers and policy makers from the private sector and local and State government. The forum provided an environment for a variety of disciplines to have an open discussion on issues of healthy cities and identify some of the challenges surrounding healthy cities planning. There was also a panel discussion involving leading practitioners and policy makers. Professor John Catford, Dean, Faculty of Health Behavioural Sciences, Deakin University set the scene and moderated the discussion. Members of the panel included:

Keynote speaker – Dr Trevor HancockDr Trevor Hancock has been described as one of the best health futurists in the world. He is a public health physician and health promotion consultant who works for local, provincial and national governments, as well as the World Health Organisation. Dr Hancock has been actively involved for 20 years in health promotion, healthy cities/communities, healthy public policy, public health, environmental health, and has consulted with local hospitals and community groups in Canada, the United States, Sweden and elsewhere. Dr Hancock is currently a full time consultant working to develop core programs in public health and a population health promotion approach at the Ministry of Health in Victoria, British Columbia.
