Overview

The Centre Ivanhoe
Ivanhoe, Victoria

This one-day conference coordinated by the Partnership Development Section, Public Health highlighted and celebrated leading edge work undertaken by Victorian local governments in planning for healthier environments.

The conference looked at current global activities related to healthy planning and the WHO Healthy Cities and Communities approach.

Victorian councils involved in the second round of Good Practice funding shared their experiences. Topics included: indicators of sustainability and health, integrated planning, collaborating with other councils and external partners, and community participation.

In the spirit of the Year of the Built Environment the conference also addressed current issues in the role of urban design and the built form in contributing to active, healthy communities.
