Improving the way DHS works with Aboriginal organisations
The aim of this project is to improve outcomes for Aboriginal Victorians by supporting the capacity of Aboriginal community controlled organisations. The idea for the project came from members of the DHS Aboriginal Human Services forum who have repeatedly identified the continued viability of the Aboriginal community controlled sector as an issue.
The project involved discussions with staff from both organisations and the DHS program areas and regions. The attached final report reflects these discussions and makes 14 recommendations. The Social Policy Branch will be meeting with organisations over the coming months to talk about the report and answer any questions.
The attached information sheet provides further details on this initiative.
