Key Result Area Guideline 1:

Establish and maintain relationships with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and services

Identifying relevant Aboriginal community controlled organisations in your area

What are Aboriginal community controlled organisations?

Aboriginal community controlled organisations provide a range of services to Aboriginal communities in Victoria. Victorian Aboriginal health services are members of, and represented by, their peak body, the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO).

Most organisations are co-operatives with an elected Board of Directors and a CEO employed by the Board. Some organisations also employ a Director or Manager of the Health Service.

Locating your local Aboriginal community controlled organisation

In rural Victoria , organisations cover geographic areas, represented on a map produced by Aboriginal Affairs Victoria. Go to
http://www.aboriginalaffairs.vic.gov.au/web7/aavmain.nsf/HeadingPagesDisplay/Contact+us/

This map is not necessarily up to date or accurate. For example, Budja Budja Aboriginal Co-operative at Hall's Gap does not appear on the map.

For a map and listing of VACCHO members, go to: http://www.vaccho.org.au/members.asp

In metropolitan Melbourne , go to http://www.vaccho.org.au/members.asp#melbourne for a list of VACCHO members in Melbourne.
