Introduction

The Safety - it's child's play facilitator's manual is a guide to running a child safety course for parents and carers of young children. The manual was developed by the City of Ballarat, in partnership with the CFA (Country Fire Authority), under the State Government child injury prevention initiative "SafeStart". The Safety - it's child's play child safety course is a four session activity program targeting parents, grandparents and carers of children aged 0 to 5 years of age. The manual provides instruction on how to set up and run the course. Although suitable for all community groups, Safety -it's child's play has shown to be a particularly effective means of engaging hard to reach families.
