How many patients are treated in our public hospitals?

Admitted patients in public hospitals^{1, 2, 3}

1. Data are for acute health program, casemix funded, public hospital beds.

2. The patients in this table are counted when they leave hospital (this is described as a separation).

3. From 1 July 1995, data exclude newborn babies in hospitals who are not admitted as patients.

4. Sameday patients are admitted to and discharged from hospital on the same day.
