Responding to Melbourne's changing population

Significant changes are also occurring in Melbourne's population. The population is growing, its geographic distribution is changing, and the proportion of older people is increasing.

By 2001, there will have been significant growth in the north-west and south-east growth corridors of the metropolitan area. Population changes were important factors considered by the Government and Health Care Networks in deciding the best locations for the development of new services.
