Appendix 6: Doctors authorised to prescribe HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C drugs through the Highly Specialised Drugs Program

To be eligible to prescribe HIV/AIDS and/or Hepatitis C drugs under section 100 of the National Health Act, community (non-hospital) doctors must complete a series of special training programs, which are run through General Practice Victoria

Prescriptions for HIV/AIDS and/or Hepatitis C medications written by authorised prescribers may be dispensed in any public hospital pharmacy and claimed through the Highly Specialised Drugs Program. Community pharmacies are not able to dispense these prescriptions.
