Public Hospital Charges - Changes
The Department has been advised of a pension increase that becomes effective from 20 September 2009. Pensioners and beneficiaries will see increases from their first payday after that date. As a consequence the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing has revised the minimum statutory NHTP contribution.
The current amount will be increased to $45.50 per day under the Health Insurance Act 1973. This represents 87.5% of the standard rate of the pension plus the maximum daily rate of rental assistance.
NHTP accommodation fee
This fee will be increased from 20 September 2009 by $2.50 to $101.65 per day.
Public Hospitals should now update their NHTP fees to reflect these changes.
