Hospital in the Home Guidelines
In response to Hospital in the Home (HITH) Review recommendations, the department supported the development of HITH guidelines. Input and feedback was sought from all HITH services, including HITH managers and medical staff, and a number of areas across the department.
The guidelines
- aim to ensure HITH is acute care substitution
- outline service capability and quality standards
- provide information to assist HITH services provide HITH within appropriate governance and funding structures
- deliver high-quality HITH services to patients
- aim to promote consistency of access
- reduce variation of service profiles across the state within the context of a complex service system.
Using these guidelines, it is expected that health services develop local structures, models, policies and practices to meet their obligation to the community and the department.
