Rosebud dental service blossoms

An expanded dental clinic will accommodate more than 2,000 extra appointments for children and adolescents each year at Rosebud Community Health.

Peninsula Health community dental program manager Sue McKinlay said the expansion came in response to increasing demand and the introduction of the Medicare Child Dental Benefit Schedule (CDBS).

‘In the past 12 months, we have seen more than 9,000 children for dental work,’ said Ms McKinlay.

The expanded clinic is expected to open in December.

Peninsula Health’s public dental service currently operates across three locations – Frankston, Hastings and Rosebud.

In the past 12 months, the service has filled 12,000 child appointments and 38,000 adult – and more than 20,000 individuals.

It also offers dental health education for preschools, primary and secondary schools and aged care and disability services.
