The Active Play for Children highlights the importance of physical activity.

DVD encourages kids on physical activity

A Department of Health-funded DVD is encouraging children aged three to eight to play and keep active.

The Active Play for Children DVD highlights the importance of physical activity to a child’s physical growth as well as their cognitive, social and emotional development and provides a valuable and engaging tool for practitioners to promote the benefits of active play to families.

The DVD was developed through the Filling the Gaps program, managed by the Royal Children’s Hospital in collaboration with the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and the Australian Catholic University.

Filling the Gaps is a partner program of the Department’s Kids–Go for your life initiative.

The Active Play for Children DVD will be disseminated with training to relevant organisations working in early years educational and care settings.

For more information on training opportunities and to obtain a copy of the DVD contact natasha.hampson@rch.org.au.
