Social work team marks milestone
Mr Gardner spoke about the
critical advocacy role of social workers in hospitals.
The Alfred’s acute medical and
psychiatry teams discussed emerging themes for social work, followed by a Talking
About My Generation panel, a presentation by Patient and Family Services
Manager Bridget Wall and the feature showing of a DVD produced by Channel 7.
The event was attended by past
and present social work staff and Alfred Health colleagues and guests and
opened by Chief Executive Officer Andrew Way.
Social Work at The Alfred aims
to identify and address the psychosocial impacts of illness and hospitalisation
for patients and their families by providing a range of services which increase
quality of life and participation in care.
The social work team also helps patients and their families with a smooth transition from hospital to home.
