International flavour for
Hamilton wedding
Traditional Burmese folklore
considers love to be destiny.
Phyo Thandar and Linn Htet Kyaw
fulfilled their destiny by making wedding vows under the trees in the Hamilton
Botanical Gardens.
Phyo and Linn met at university
in Burma while studying to be doctors.
They moved to Australia six
months ago.
Having no family here and not
knowing many people, Phyo and Linn asked their Western District Health Service
workmates to help them celebrate.
Due to the ever-increasing
diversity of people working for WDHS it became a multi-cultural event.
Director of Medical Services
John Christie gave the bride away.
Doctors Sandy Kyaw (Burma),
Miriam Athayde (Brazil), Khin Htet Htet Thu (Burma) Roya Arabi (Iran) and
Brendra Kanapathippillai (Sri Lanka) attended the couple. Dr Roya’s daughter, Paradisia, was
the flower girl.
Many other WDHS staff members attended the wedding with their families to welcome Phyo and Linn into the local community.
