All aboard the management intern train

The Australasian College of Health Service Management is inviting applications for its Victorian Health Management Internship Program.

With 2,500 members, ACHSM is the peak professional body for health managers in Australasia and brings together health leaders to learn, network and share ideas.

ACHSM’s distinctive vision is to achieve better leadership for healthier communities – through fellowship programs, mentoring opportunities and extensive professional development events.

The HMIP is a two-year program offering graduates the opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of the health sector and skills relevant to health management.

For more than 30 years, the Victorian HMIP has evolved alongside the health sector.

It has support from the Department of Health and Human Services as well as leading industry organisations.

The HMIP comprises three components – full-time work, completion of a master of health management degree and a calendar of networking and professional development activities.

Potential interns should have a degree – and two years work experience is desirable.

Previous interns have had a variety of health backgrounds, such as nursing and allied health professions, although a clinical background is not mandatory.

Interns work across the Department of Health and Human Services, major hospitals, regional and rural health services, government agencies, community health and consulting companies.

Applications for the HMIP open Monday, June 24, and close Sunday, July 21, to begin January 13, 2020.

An HMIP information evening will be held on June 26 in Melbourne.
