Post-COVID café marks return to normal

The reopening of a much-loved café at Euroa Health’s GraniteHill aged care facility has marked a welcome return to normality for the local community.

Pre-COVID, the cafe was open to the public and residents every day – a delightful and quiet place for a quick lunch or afternoon tea.

Located away from Euroa’s busy main street the café called to tradies, professionals and residents to share homemade cakes and pastries as well as coffee.

The post-COVID reopening and revamp was driven by the Euroa Health Chief Executive Officer Cherree Hunter.

It saw a relocation of the cafe table and chairs from inside to outside – to the Bower Bird Walkway which connects the hospital with the aged care facility.

‘This GraniteHill Cafe is an incredible asset to the facility and the wider community and was really missed by us all,’ Ms Hunter said.

‘The repositioning and reopening has done wonders for morale, especially during the delightful weather.

‘Our talented catering team started test-baking a wider range of slices, cakes and tarts with their specialty a rather decadent chocolate brownie.

‘And residents are now enjoying a new in-room delivery option.’

Ms Hunter said the smell of coffee brewing and the constant buzz of the coffee machine had brought GraniteHill back to life.
