Colour and quirk add vibe to renovation

Heywood Rural Health has officially opened the newly-renovated and refurbished expansion of Surrey Hall in its aged care facility.

This renovation saw expansion of two areas – as well as using the existing large outdoor area – to create a lounge/dining room, activities room and another family dining experience area.

Residents had great input with recommendations for the brightly-coloured furniture that now decorates and adorns the space.

‘The residents did not want a bland unenticing room,’ said director of clinical services Janifer Smith.

‘Our vision was for a bright vibrant area which would excite the senses, encourage conversation and gatherings.

Residents requested a family-friendly, bright and happy place they could share with their loved ones.

‘Games and child-friendly activities are provided indoors.

‘A safe outdoor area is available for grandchildren and great grand-children to play in, while adult relatives and friends can visit residents and keep an eye out.’

‘The feedback from all who have visited and seen our achievement has been overwhelmingly positive,’ said Chief Executive Officer Roslyn Jones.

‘Other organisations have comes from hundreds of kilometres to view our new renovation and we are proud to showcase this modern facility.

The aged care furniture supplier congratulated us on our choice of furniture colours and we are very pleased with the choices we made.’
