Twins celebrate 30 years as nurses

A group of Central Gippsland Health Service staff – including identical twins Fiona White and Deidre Chivers – has been recognised for 30 years or more of service.

Fiona and Deidre are division two registered nurses and started work – together – at the health service in 1980.

They have worked in a number of areas, including in the Wilson Lodge aged care facility since it opened.

Fiona and Deidre were among nearly 30 staff presented with 30 year service awards recently.

The others included Donna Cannon, Joy White, Kathie Smith, Helen Drew, Peter Stares, Barbara Harper, Geoff Brown, Elizabeth McDonald, Maurice Fernando, Margot Medew, Dianne Hurst, Heather Phillipson and Margaret Centra.

Those unable to attend a small presentation ceremony to receive their awards included Caron Leighton, Brenda Cahill, Kim Costin, Christine Crouch, Wendy Harwood, Lynette Howard, Sue Ingrouille, Debbie Kardinaal, Wendy Kelly, Lois Kingston, David Lear, Susan Marsden, Lyle Moore and Graham Quick.

Chief Executive Officer Dr Frank Evans said the long-term efforts of the staff were much appreciated.

‘It shows their dedication to working within an organisation that provides essential services to our local community,’ Dr Evans said.

‘It also demonstrates the very large extent to which Central Gippsland Health Service is part of the community with so many very good citizens making their careers here.’
