been admitted as a Member of the Order of Australia.
Honour for heart services leader
Professor Meredith has been
recognised for his work as a clinician and researcher in cardiology.
His official nomination also
praised his work as an advocate and advisor to numerous public health
organisations.
Chief Executive of Southern
Health Shelly Park said Professor Meredith was a world-leader in cardiology.
‘His research, advocacy and
clinical work have had an enormous impact on the cardiac services at Southern
Health and across the country.’
His work in developing the
MonashHeart service and brand has allowed it to become Victoria’s leading
provider of cardiac services, boasting innovative programs.
Professor Meredith serves on a
number of Victorian, Australian and International committees and boards.
He has led the MonashHeart team
to many national and international clinical firsts and he has been principal
investigator in a number of large international trials.
He has published more than 200
papers in peer-reviewed journals and, over the last 20 years, has given more
than 300 invited lectures and presentations nationally
and internationally.
He is also the public face of
the National Heart Foundation’s Warning Signs campaign.
