Website targets language barrier

Health Translations – Australia’s largest directory for translated health and wellbeing resources – has developed a five-part podcast series.

The podcast series explores the way language, culture and health interact.

Each episode focuses on a different health topic, including asthma, autism and mental health.

Health Translations is funded by the Department of Health and Human Services and managed by the Centre for Culture, Ethnicity and Health (CEH).

It has more than 18,000 resources available in more than 105 languages.

The website has recently added thousands of translated Centrelink resources.

Some of these are translated in more than 45 languages and provide information on government payments and services for retirees, the unemployed, families, carers, parents, people with disabilities, Aboriginal Australians, students aged 16 to 24, apprentices and people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
