Eastern Health welcomes patient opinions

Eastern Health has become the first Victorian health service to officially ‘sign up’ to patient feedback website Patient Opinion.

Patient Opinion will complement Eastern Health’s existing feedback channels – via its Centre for Patient Experience, website or patient relations advisors.

Based on a platform used across Britain’s National Health Service, Patient Opinion allows patients and their families to anonymously provide open and honest feedback about their healthcare experience, which can then be viewed by all visitors to the website.

In return, health services have the opportunity to address the patient or carer’s thoughts directly and use the feedback to improve their services.

Chief Executive Officer Alan Lilly said Eastern Health valued the opinion of its patients, consumers and their families.

‘By adding Patient Opinion to our suite of feedback options, we’re giving people another opportunity to share their thoughts and help us to continuously improve our services.

‘It takes our In the Patient’s Shoes patient experience of care program to the next level.’

Patient Opinion Australia CEO Associate Professor Michael Greco said patients were ‘looking for a place where they will be heard and acknowledged.

‘They want to see that their comments have made a difference to how the health service will do things differently in the future.’
