Burden of Disease (BoD) - LGAs and regions 2001Local community health planning requires information regarding the health status of the population being planned for. Comprehensive information is available at a local government level on the health problems of communities and the underlying risk factors contributing to the burden of the disease. This information includes the most important causes of death as well as estimates of the number of people affected by the 50 most important diseases and injuries. This site provides straightforward access to Burden of disease estimates for areas, diseases and age groups of your choice. Not only numerical estimates are provided but also relevant text descriptions that aim to give meaning and assist in the interpretation of this new information.
