Governance
HealthSMART Design Authority governs architecture and standards via the Systems Integration Steering Committee (SIAC). SIAC is compromised of experts from Victorian rural and metropolitan health services who assist in providing direction in the use of the EAI technology and associated standards.
Messaging with HealthSMART is managed via the EAI, within this architecture the data messaging standard that is used is the Australian Standard HL7 2.4. All transactions that are delivered via this infrastructure must adhere to this normalised standard. Further clarification of the standard is provided in the HealthSMART HL7 2.4 version of this standard (the HealthSMART Standard). The HealthSMART Standard is a definitive guide, that defines message use, metadata, and reference values standards for HealthSMART applications and health services implementing HealthSMART products. HL7 2.4 is the approved standard across a number jurisdictions in Australia and is endorsed by the National e-Health Transition Authority (NEHTA).
