Common Technology Infrastructure (CTI) initiative
Implementation
CTI implementation comprises a set of core services for CTI supplemented by additional services that can be taken up by participating agencies once the agency has fully migrated to the State-Wide Active Directory.Implementation stages
No CTI services
Currently each individual agency has its own domain, which it is responsible for managing. This leads to Victorian public health sector employees who work at multiple agencies having multiple accounts with multiple user names and passwords plus they will also have a separate username and password for access to HealthSMART Services delivered applications.Core Services
CTI core services include:- Single sign-on
- Smartcard
- Enterprise secure remote access
- User provisioning, and
- State-wide Active Directory
User provisioning establishes a single instance of each user and provides system access that is relevant to the user’s role at each agency.
Secure remote access enables an authorised user to access approved applications remotely.Underpinning the delivery of these services is the State-wide Active Directory (SWAD). The SWAD is based upon Microsoft Active Directory technology.
The core services enable an interim state that provides for co-existence of HealthSMART SWAD and the agency’s local Active Directory (AD) and associated services.Should an agency elect to take up any of the supplementary services, it is a prerequisite that full transition to the SWAD be completed. This involves migration of all agency services to the SWAD, followed by collapse of the local agency AD.
The completion of transition to the SWAD and take up of supplementary services is at the discretion of each agency.Full services
Full CTI services are dependent on the core services listed above and the collapse of individual agency directories and full migration to the SWAD.
Full services include:- Internet
- Collaboration services (email and calendar via MS Exchange, Office Communication Server and SharePoint)
- Virtual desktop, and
- Desktop management
