Minister's Awards

The Minister’s Awards are an opportunity to recognise exceptional commitment to delivering the best possible care for consumers and communities. Health services may choose to nominate staff for long term commitment and achievement, an outstanding success, or action above and beyond the call of duty.

The Minister for Health will present two awards:

  • Outstanding achievement by an individual
  • Outstanding achievement by a team.

The Minister for Mental Health will present two awards:

  • Outstanding achievement by an individual
  • Outstanding achievement by a team.

Important entry information

The entries for the 2009 Victorian Healthcare Awards must be submitted through the online submission system.

The chief executive of a health service, or equivalent for a public health organisation can nominate one individual and one team from each campus of their organisation. Make sure that the checkbox is ticked on the online submission form indicating chief executive endorsement.

To be eligible the nominee must be employed in a paid or voluntary capacity by a Victorian Government funded healthcare organisation or public health organisation.

To propose a team or individual for a Minister’s Award, an organisation must prepare a nomination using the official entry form. The entry should provide information about the nominee, the reason for the nomination, and the benefits which have flowed to consumers or the community from the nominee’s dedication and service.

One supporting document (up to three A4 pages) consisting of three letters of support can be submitted with the nomination form.

Entry steps

  • Step 1: Download the entry form guide PDF and review the submission requirements and conditions of entry for the Minister’s Awards.
  • Step 2: Determine who to nominate from your organisation.
  • Step 3: Register your details with the 2009 Victorian Healthcare Awards online submission system. An official entry form (MS Word document) and instructions on the submission steps will be emailed to you.
  • Step 4: Prepare the nomination using the official form. One supporting document (up to three A4 pages) consisting of three letters of support can be submitted with the nomination form.
  • Step 5: Submit the entry by 6pm Wednesday 10 June 2009 through the online submission system.

Assessment period

There is no specific time period for the Minister’s Awards but it is preferable that the nominee be currently employed, in a paid or voluntary capacity by the nominating organisation, or if ceased employment, to have done so in 2009.

Assessment criteria

The judges advising the ministers will review the entries, considering the nominee’s relative merits in relation to their commitment, innovation and excellence, and the benefits of their work for Victorian consumers, organisation or community.
