Excellence Awards
Premier’s excellence award for tackling chronic disease and improving public health
More Victorians are overweight or obese and increasing numbers of people at risk or suffering from chronic disease conditions. Physical inactivity, unhealthy eating and being overweight are the most important and preventable causes of chronic disease such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease and many types of cancer (Auditor-General Report: Promoting Better Health through Healthy Eating and Physical Activity, June 2007.)
This Award recognises initiatives that promote good health, prevent chronic disease, and reduce the burden of chronic disease in the Victorian population.
