About the Awards
The Victorian Government is proud to launch the 2011 Victorian Public Healthcare Awards, searching for Victoria’s most innovative, informed and effective healthcare. The Awards are our annual spotlight on the most exceptional healthcare that is responding to community needs, now and in the future.
The Victorian Government is committed to achieving a strong health system that is underpinned by highly trained health professionals, delivering informed and informative services across the continuum of care. The government will work with all stakeholders in the Victorian health system to address the many challenges that lie ahead to create an equitable, sustainable health system with people at its heart. These Awards play a significant role in acknowledging the leaders in our health system, who are at the forefront of providing care to the Victorian community.
The Awards recognise innovation and excellence in improving hospital capacity, developing community-based health services, promoting healthy living, providing more extensive and high quality health care information, improving emergency services and creating more effective healthcare outcomes. The Awards are relevant to all services and providers, irrespective of size, location or area of expertise.
Expert and independent judging panels drawn from all parts of the healthcare system determine the outcome in each Award. The Awards have a proud tradition of unearthing the quiet achievers and outstanding services and programs making our health system the best it can be.
