Overview

The Parent-managed head lice program is a concept that has been utilised extensively in Queensland, and piloted in a number of schools within Victoria. This program aims to involve parents and volunteers from the school or childcare centre rather than relying on an external service provider. It may utilise other community resources such as local council, community health centres, local business and the Department of Human Services.

These resources are available for use in your community and will help address ongoing head lice management and control issues. The package provides information and resources to develop and implement a parent-managed program.

The package consists of two types of resources:

• Information/guidelines/handouts. These are not intended to be customised by the school and are only available in PDF format.

• Forms and the sample school policy. These are intended to be customised by the school when they implement the program. They are available in Microsoft Word or Excel format as well as PDF format.

All of the resources within the package have been bundled together in a single PDF file in the order that reflects the implementation of the program. This file can be used as a reference for planning the implementation.
